The Republic of Kazakhstan’s digital residency program

eResidency is a government program of the Republic of Kazakhstan, developed under Presidential Decree No. 1242 of April 25, 2026, on improving migration policy. After online verification and payment, you get a digital IIN and an eSIM. With them, partner banks, brokers, and platforms can open accounts and services for you under their own rules.

eResidency launched as a pilot on November 12, 2025, and on January 1, 2026, it became the main way to get an IIN remotely — the earlier pilot through embassies and consulates closed on December 31, 2025. The program operator is Verum Payments Limited, a company registered in the Astana International Financial Centre and supervised by the AFSA; the IIN itself is assigned by the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Remote account opening is already available at Freedom Bank and Bank RBK.

The status is not a visa or a residence permit, and it doesn’t make you a tax resident — it gives you digital access to services, nothing more.
